Sailing in Blue by ekster Sailing in Blue by ekster
I just felt like doing something really quick and simple.

Sailboats are fun! How I wish I had one ;P

Not exactly my usual kind of work, but just felt like sharing :)

Edit:
I've repacked a few additional versions (including widescreen) based on some popular requests here: [link]
Enjoy! :)

Very nice. I find this more refreshing and enjoyable to look at than your "En Voyage" piece. Thanks for making this. =)

A very beautiful picture. (It's actually my background now.) There's one tiiiny problem though. Your sails are backwards. It looks like the front of your boat is going to the right, but the way your sails are, the front of your boat should be going left. I could also be seeing it wrong, you let me know. I have a tendency to see things oddly.

Thanks so very much for the kind words :) You raise an interesting observation there actually, and now I realize that there is more than one way of seeing the direction of the sail! :XD:

the simplicity of the whole composition makes one gets lost in the lines of the boat, which are very elegant.. great job!

Oh my gosh! That's fantastic! I love boats and water and sailing. I don't have a sailboat or anything, but my grandpa used to make them.

Thank you so very much! Yeah, I love water, I used to take hours playing in the bathtub when I was a kid with like seamonsters and ships :D So your grandpa was a sailboat maker as well? That must have been pretty awesome. I can't even fold a simple boat out of paper, let alone construct a real one! :giggle:

You're welcome! Me too. ^ ^ Playing in the water was my favorite part. Same thing with playing in the lakes and stuff.

Yeah, he was. ^.^ I used to climb all around the ships he made. It was definitely a lot of fun.

Woah, very awesome. I am on the east coast, and yesterday it reached 80 degrees; unfortunetly today it dropped again to the mid forties. This picture reminds me of my mood yesterday. Very light and airy!

Thanks very much! 80 degrees sure sounds nice, but a drop to the mid forties is pretty darn drastic. Hopefully you enjoyed the warmth while it lasted though :)

Amazing work !!!
The lines are so perfect !

But why did you make a noise on it ? the clarity of the shapes are in contract with the noise dots aren't they ?

As for the noise, I guess I just really like how it looks with the grain for a slightly vintage look, but I'll shortly be doing a pack that has a couple different sizes and a no-grain version

simple is always beautiful and its always nice to do something simple once in a while. i love the haze in the back, it gives the piece a sense of wonder and curiosity for many questions and stories to arise out of the imagination of the viewer. very open and welcoming.......*sigh* i can hear the ocean already

Yeah, this piece was something more open ended, when I started there really was no plan, it just kind of happened. I should do more quickies :D
