The Hall of Mystery by ekster The Hall of Mystery by ekster
Something a little different from the usual.

My mind is still traveling endlessly within a faraway mystical realm, and I'm not sure that it wants to leave just yet. Once you've began the journey to go deep inside a place rarely explored, is there really a way out?

But then, are you really looking for a way out at all?

Oh my...this is very beautiful, ekster. -^ ^- The shadows and light seem like their dancing...or fighting. Either way it looks awesome. The colors are so perfect too. The 'mystery' theme is defiintely represented by the maroon. Nice description also. ^ ^

Nicely done, Eka! I love the muted tones and heavy application of "Ekster Purple" ;)

My only thought is that perhaps the lights beaming down between columns into the distance might be a bit more substantial, perhaps fading in intensity with the distance. Don't get me wrong, I can see why you kept them faint so that the foreground lantern would really shine, but that's just a thought. I have lots and most are easily dispensable :D

Great piece. It feels like a journey has begun!

Thank you so very Sean, and why yes, it is indeed the ekster purple ;P
You raise a good point, the intensity of the light could use a bit more substance. I had them fade out a little bit as the distance progressed, but apparently not enough. I've just put up an updated revision where the foremost beam of light is slightly more intensified, and the other beams of light diminish slightly over distance, or at least a bit more noticeable than the first ;)

Ah, I do see that the columns of light ("Sleepwalking under columns of light") have been adjusted. Actually I was referring more to perhaps a less subtle recession in the intensity of the spotlights on the floor, but hey, it's all good--this is a great piece anyway you slice it :)

Aha! Can't believe I didn't notice that the first time arouind, with a brighter column of light, the spot light should also be a tad bit brighter ^^; I adjusted it a tad bit so that the intensities should now match better hopefully :D

Do you think you could bottle your talent for us poor witless we-can't-actually-draw beginners???

I really like this. You don't do many shillouettes I've found, and it's nice to see something a little different from you :)

I really like that lantern. It makes me think back to the markets in Sydney where you can find the most interesting (And yet so utterly useless, expensive and unnecessary ;) ) Things!

Hehehe.. well you just gotta love those silly interesting yet useless trinkets ;) They sure look neat when they're in the store or market, but what you do with it after that is anyone's guess :lmao:

Thanks very much for sharing your lovely thoughts as always, and I really appreciate the kind compliment! I really had fun experimenting with this particular piece, there's more of a sense of artistic adventure if you will. I shall definitely be experimenting more often :D
